Friendship Circle- For children with special needs
Reaching out to the Lubavitcher community’s special needs children providing an unbelievable two week summer vacation in a mainstream setting where the girls experience being an integral component of typical camping in a Lubavitcher environment.
An Unforgettable Experience They Too Deserve!
CAMP EMUNAH HOSTS FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE AGAIN
THIS YEAR
Once again Camp Emunah graciously opened its heart and will host Friendship Circle for another most magnificent experience.
Last year, we're not quite sure who gained more: the Friendship Circle Girls who were an itegral part of the chasidisshe, social, fun filled setting at camp; or the rest of the camp who gained immeasurably from interacting with the FC girls and developing a sensitivity t the needs of others?
Being in camp was the opportunity of a lifetime, giving the FC firls the opportunity to interect with other children and participate with the campers in sports, crats, swimming, singing an all other activities offered in Camo. They were able to go on trips designed just for them, such as a sponsored shoppoing spree at the Dollar Store.
The FC girls joined the campers for davening and meals, and spend time with them during rest hour and Shabbos afternoons, The FC girls compiled scarpboks to take home, played in the game room, and just likeeveryone else, released pent up energy by jumping on the trampolines.
At the mock wedding, the FC girls marched down to the Chupa as flower girls and danced and sang to the music. On the Shtetel Day, the girls baked bread, made ice candles and fed the goats. Then to top it all off, they went on a "runaway" to Woodbourne for ice cream.
On Shabbos the FC girls partnered up with other campers their own age and took the traditional Shabbos walk. The FC girls were always included in camp and made to feel as special as every other camper is made to feel.
The most incredible part of the Friendship Circle girls' camp Emunah experience was the outpouring of genuine compassion the staff members and campers demonstrated. Thanks to the staff and campers at Camp Emunah: you have done an incredible job in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the Friendship Circle girls - a memory that will be cherished forever.
